The Chinese version of QSAND(Quantifying Sustainability in the Aftermath of Natural Disasters) released for interested parties and public to download and use

Quantifying Sustainability in the Aftermath of Natural Disasters (QSAND) is a self-assessment tool developed by The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and Building Research Establishment (BRE) of UK to assess and promote sustainability in post-disaster relief, recovery, and reconstruction. The tool is organized into different categories within which issues relating to the reconstruction of a sustainable built environment are assessed, including (but not limited to) shelter and community, materials and waste, and resettlement.
In 2021, our fund introduced this framework for domestic use by collaborating with domestic institutions on translation and review work of the assessment materials. In August 2022, the translated version was successfully completed and released. It is now accessible for interested parties and public to download and use.
Meanwhile, we have supported Sichuan Branch of the Red Cross Society of China, Sichuan University-The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Institute for Disaster Management and Reconstruction, local institutions and government departments to organise workshops to facilitate exchange of experiences and explore the pathways for local application. We are also engaging university teams to adopt the QSAND framework for sustainable design and demonstration of construction. (Click here to see the related project
