To promote and preserve China’s traditional culture of rural architecture made from materials such as earth, bamboo, and wood, and to support the revitalization of rural areas, we have partnered with Kunming University of Science and Technology to conduct research on eco-friendly and low-carbon rural building technology. Our goal is to explore development models that are suitable for villages with relatively low economic levels by combining technology research and development, academic research, and practical projects.

Our project aims to provide technical support for the construction of village homes, community centers, and the renovation of traditional earth houses in Yunnan and Hunan using eco-friendly and low-carbon building techniques. This support includes activities such as research and development, experimentation, structural design, craftsman training, on-site construction guidance, and demonstration project construction.

Additionally, we will work with local enterprises and governments to explore the potential of organic cycling agricultural industries, bamboo-based building industries, and other industrial development models that can benefit villagers and contribute to their well-being.

Currently, we have the plans as follows:

Supporting facilities construction for relocation community

Location: Shuitang Village, Wudongde Tourist Town, Luquan County, Yunnan
Wudongde Tourist Town serves as a resettlement site for residents who were relocated due to the Wudongde hydropower project on the Jinsha River. In order to promote tourism development and create job opportunities for the resettled people, there are plans to construct modern agricultural employee dormitories and activity rooms on the site of damaged houses in Shuitang Village. These facilities will cater to the needs of both the local tourism and modern agricultural industries.

We are currently conducting site surveys and conceptual brainstorming.

Research and practice on the regeneration of traditional villages based on eco-friendly and low-carbon strategies

Location: Beizhe Xin Village, Tanglang Township, Luquan County, Yunnan
The flat-topped earthen and wooden houses in Beizhe Xin Village exhibit a simple and quaint architectural style that blends seamlessly with the surrounding environment. This project aims to transform these buildings using eco-friendly and low-carbon technologies, with the goal of enhancing safety and livability, while also exploring the integration of eco-friendly and low-carbon rural lifestyles. The ultimate objective is to create an demonstration of a eco-friendly and low-carbon rural village, providing a model for the preservation of traditional villages in the local area.

We are currently conducting research on the village.

Construction of eco-friendly and low-carbon residential buildings in dry-hot valley area

Location: Maluzhai Village, Yangwu Town, Xinping County, Yuxi City, Yunnan
This project is focused on leveraging the abundant clumping bamboo resources in Xinping County, to drive the development of the local bamboo industry through the practical application of prefabricated bamboo-steel-wood hybrid structures in rural areas. The ultimate goal is to provide engineering cases for the formulation of the “Yunnan Bamboo Tile Covered Wood Frame Prefabricated Building Technical Standard.”

Moreover, the project seeks to establish a building cooperative for local villagers to carry out prefabricated modern and livable agricultural housing construction, providing a model for using local materials in rural construction and promoting the application of prefabricated steel and wood structures.

We are currently working on the preliminary design of the plan.
