Shan DAIChief Executive OfficerShe holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) from China Agricultural University, a Master of Sustainable & Environmental Design (MSc) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Architecture at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Her primary research interests lie in the vernacular renovation, and climate resilience design of rural areas, the application of passive theory in rural dwelling reconstruction, and the establishment of comprehensive lifecycle assessments for rural renovation. She has been honoured to participate in technical exchanges on rammed earth construction technology facilitated by the UNESCO Chair on Earthen Architecture BASEHabitat. Over the years, she has been involved in enhancing the adaptation of rural materials such as earth, wood, bamboo, and stone to modernization. Additionally, she has contributed to the design and construction of nearly 100 reconstructed rural dwellings and rammed earth public buildings across over 20 remote villages in China. This experience has equipped her with rich expertise in rural rammed earth dwelling design and construction.
