Due to poverty, lack of parental care, or disabilities, some rural children live in challenging conditions. Since April 2021, the Fund has thrown its support behind the Haihui Poverty Alleviation Service Center in Sichuan Province, teaming up with local organizations in Qingchuan County to launch the Support Program for Children in Difficulties. Together, they’re empowering local social institutions and rallying volunteers to provide companionship services to 40 children in difficult circumstances, promoting their physical and mental health development.(more details)
After two years of practice, the project team explored a social support and care service model for children in difficulties’ survival situation, summarizing their practical work experience into a manual. On March 3, 2023, Haihui held a seminar on County-level Support Program for Children in Difficulties, officially releasing the 基于困境儿童生存现状的社会关爱服务介入模式手册(Social Care Service Intervention Model Based on the Survival Situation of Children in Difficulties manual)（click here to read the Chinese version）.
The manual comprises three main parts: the first part introduces the project service model, the second part covers the entire project’s practical process, and the third part focuses on the project implementation’s effectiveness evaluation, existing experience, and effectiveness summary. It also reflects on existing problems and challenges.
A participatory workshops was also held with social organizations that provide county-level services for children in difficulties in Yunnan and Sichuan. They conducted theme discussions, shared and learned from each other. Through this project, the Fund aims to alleviate the economic pressure on families of children in difficulties, promote self-efficacy, build a social support network, and provide references for children’s service work.
